Frequently asked
What is QRTC?
QRTC is a VIN-based identity for your car. Anyone can look up a VIN — or scan the QR sticker on the car itself — and see the vehicle info and service history its owner added, never the owner's private contacts.
Who can see my vehicle?
Anyone who knows the VIN can look it up here, read the details and service history you've added, and download them as a PDF. That is the point of the service. They cannot change anything — editing requires signing in as the owner. The service costs you record and your email address are never shown publicly.
Is the data verified?
Make, model and year are decoded from the public NHTSA vPIC database using your VIN. Photos, color and notes are owner-controlled.
Can I move a QR to another car?
No. Once a QR is activated, it's permanently bound to that VIN. You can replace a damaged QR with a new sticker — that creates a new bond and deactivates the old code.
How do I open my cabinet from the sticker?
Scan the QR on the car. Choose “Enter cabinet”, type the email you used when you activated the code, and open the sign-in link we send. Anyone else can choose “View vehicle information” without an account.
How is my email handled?
Your email is used only for sign-in and ownership transfer. It's never shown on public pages.
Where is my data stored?
MongoDB Atlas in a Google Cloud region. Photos live in Google Cloud Storage with private access — anonymous viewers see them via short-lived signed links.
